Micheal Jackson dies at 50

LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" who once moonwalked above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback bid to vanquish nightmare years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. He was 50.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

At the time of his death, Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13.

As word of his death spread, MTV switched its programming to play videos from Jackson's heyday. Radio stations began playing marathons of his hits. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital. In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62

LOS ANGELES – Farrah Fawcett, whose luxurious tresses and blinding smile helped redefine sex appeal in the 1970s as one of TV's "Charlie's Angels," died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62.

The pop icon, who in the 1980s set aside the fantasy girl image to tackle serious roles, died Thursday shortly before 9:30 a.m. PDT in a Santa Monica hospital, spokesman Paul Bloch said.

She burst on the scene in 1976 as one-third of the crime-fighting trio in TV's "Charlie's Angels." A poster of her in a clingy swimsuit sold in the millions.

She left the show after one season but had a flop on the big screen with "Somebody Killed Her Husband." She turned to more serious roles in the 1980s and 1990s, winning praise playing an abused wife in "The Burning Bed."

She had been diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. As she underwent treatment, she enlisted the help of actor Ryan O'Neal, who had been her longtime companion and was the father of her son, Redmond, born in 1985.

This month, O'Neal said he asked Fawcett to marry him and she agreed. They would wed "as soon as she can say yes," he said.

Her struggle with painful treatments and dispiriting setbacks was recorded in the television documentary "Farrah's Story." Fawcett sought cures in Germany as well as the United States, battling the disease with iron determination even as her body weakened.

"Her big message to people is don't give up, no matter what they say to you, keep fighting," her friend Alana Stewart said. NBC estimated the May 15, 2009, broadcast drew nearly 9 million viewers.

In the documentary, Fawcett was seen shaving off most of her trademark locks before chemotherapy could claim them. Toward the end, she's seen huddled in bed, barely responding to a visit from her son.

Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith comprised the original "Angels," the sexy, police-trained trio of martial arts experts who took their assignments from a rich, mysterious boss named Charlie (John Forsythe, who was never seen on camera but whose distinctive voice was heard on speaker phone.)

The program debuted in September 1976, the height of what some critics derisively referred to as television's "jiggle show" era, and it gave each of the actresses ample opportunity to show off their figures as they disguised themselves in bathing suits and as hookers and strippers to solve crimes.

Backed by a clever publicity campaign, Fawcett — then billed as Farrah Fawcett-Majors because of her marriage to "Six Million Dollar Man" star Lee Majors — quickly became the most popular Angel of all.

Her face helped sell T-shirts, lunch boxes, shampoo, wigs and even a novelty plumbing device called Farrah's faucet. Her flowing blond hair, pearly white smile and trim, shapely body made her a favorite with male viewers in particular.

A poster of her in a dampened red swimsuit sold millions of copies and became a ubiquitous wall decoration in teenagers' rooms.

Thus the public and the show's producer, Spelling-Goldberg, were shocked when she announced after the series' first season that she was leaving television's No. 5-rated series to star in feature films. (Cheryl Ladd became the new "Angel" on the series.)

But the movies turned out to be a platform where Fawcett was never able to duplicate her TV success. Her first star vehicle, the comedy-mystery "Somebody Killed Her Husband," flopped and Hollywood cynics cracked that it should have been titled "Somebody Killed Her Career."

Theyr'e back.....

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns are nearing agreement on a blockbuster trade that would send Shaquille O’Neal to Cleveland to team with LeBron James, according to two sources with knowledge of the discussions.

The deal is more than “90 percent” complete, according to the sources, and is merely awaiting final approval from the team’s owners.

Cleveland will send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the future Hall of Famer.

The 5 dopest Ep's & Mixtapes out right now

I have to admit in the recent years the quality of good music has declined greatly due to the fact of record labels forcing their artist to put out that cookie cutter bullshit you hear all over the radio,MTV,BET,VH1 etc. And I'm not one to get caught up on all these new artist who pop out of the internet and blogs every other week, but honestly once I got a chance to sit and listen to Drake,Wale,Chester French & Asher Roth's mixtapes,I finally heard some good music. And these dudes took it back to the real shit when you could actually bump somebody's mixtape, and to be honest these mixtapes are better than alot of peoples bullshit albums that been coming out,and last but not least the homie Abyss's mash up ep,will let the world know we've been pushing the envelope way before it was "cool" to flirt with other genre's of music......If anybody wants these mixtapes just hit me.

Kid Robot goes Punk!!!!

I must admit, for some reason my taste and style of clothing has made another switch and I'm really going back to wearing more classic and high end brands due to the fact that they are timeless designs that don't get caught up in fads, but this line from Kid Robot shows that they can go some where else with it at the same time and make a little bit more maturer designs for the grown folks who support the brand.

"Let's Call It Off" Peter Bjorn & John

Well I recently finally gave the youngin Drake some airplay and found that he's dope and really has a good thing going on with his music and he got my stamp when I heard the different genre's of music that he picked for his mash/ups for the "So Far Gone" mixtape and you know I had to go listen to the original to compare the two and to be honest I like Drake's version a lil better but it's two totally different atmosphere's for each version and I respect both versions to be honest lol...

PHILADELPHIA - The bar at the center of a chaotic scene that left a Philadelphia officer wounded is closed as police try to search for clues to find the suspect that shot him.

The officer is recovering from surgery Monday on his gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Officer Ashley Hoggard, 26, was wounded around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, while responding to a call of a big bar fight near Franchise Sports Bag & Grille at Broad and Somerset streets.

Licenses & Inspection officers and Pennsylvania State Police put a cease operations order on the bar, after a raid Monday afternoon, citing it for being a public nuisance and other violations.

"Shut them down as a public nuisance, contributing to the allowance of violence/life safety behavior," said Kevin Daly of Licenses & Inspection.

Police said surveillance video recorded moments before four people -- including the officer -- were shot shows alleged gunmen handing out weapons.

Police have not publicly released the video footage at this time because it's too vital to the investigation.

Police said the video from the bar shows a gun being handed off to two different people after the first victim was shot multiple times outside the bar.

Officer Ashley Hoggard was struck after he and his partner got out of their cruiser near 13th and Somerset Streets.

Police said Hoggard was ducking between two parked cars for cover when the bullet hit his shoulder, just above the area protected by a bullet-resistant vest. A third shooting took place around the corner near Rush Street.

Inside the bar, police saw something else on tape.

"An individual with some type of trash bag handing out guns," said Deputy Commissioner Bill Blackburn of Philadelphia Police. "It's a very, very disturbing video, in terms in the amount of firepower that's being handed out at the time right after a police officer's shot."

The three-year force veteran's partner rushed him to Temple University Hospital.

Police said the two officers never even had a chance to return fire.

Nearly 30 shots were fired in all, according to witnesses. At least one gun was recovered afterward, police said.

Hoggard was listed in good condition and improving Monday after surgery for internal bleeding.

The three other men who were wounded are all expected to recover. One of the shooting victims, already released from a hospital, is said to be cooperating with the police investigation.

Commissioner Charles Ramsey said of whoever shot the officer, "He knows he shot somebody. I guess by now he knows he shot a police officer, but he certainly was very reckless in his behavior and easily could have killed three or four people."

Asked what he would tell the gunman who shot the officer, Ramsey answered, "Go to the nearest police station, turn yourself in and let's get this whole matter resolved and put it in the system."

Police are vowing this time to get the man who shot one of their own.

"We're proceeding as though this was an intentional act," said Deputy Commissioner Blackburn.

"We're going to continue to look for him," Ramsey said. "I mean, anybody who would shoot wildly down the street like that, not only striking a police officer but three other people -- we still don't know exactly what it's all about, but we will find the person responsible."

This was the second time in the past 18 months that four people were shot outside Franchise Sports Bar & Grille. The last quadruple shooting was during the same timeframe, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., but that incident left two people dead.

“We're gonna look at the number of service calls, we're gonna look at the violence associated with and then make a determination as to the closing of that spot,” said Blackburn.

The bar manager insists the trouble started outside the bar. She says that she cooperated with police, called 9-1-1 to report the officer's shooting and has four security guards inside at all times. She says everyone is searched for a weapon as they enter. She does not believe the bar should be shut down.

Mickey Rourke as "Whiplash" In Iron Man 2

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Paramount has released the first peek at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, and he's geared up to wreck havoc for Tony Stark in "Iron Man 2."
The actor is seen sporting a partial exoskeleton with a power pack on his chest reminiscent of Iron Man's suit.

The character's alter ego, Ivan Vanko, is a Russian who "has constructed his own version of a suit," director Jon Favreau told USA Today. He also wields a pair of whips, which are powered by his exoskeleton and should make him a formidable foe for the armored superhero.

Rourke told the paper that Whiplash "is going to light them up.
Whiplash, along with The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will take on Iron Man in the eagerly anticipated sequel, due in theaters May 7, 2010.

So the Blueprint 3 is really coming out....

Via: Spin.com

Eight years to the day after hip-hop superstar Jay-Z released his benchmark album, The Blueprint, he'll return with his long-awaited new record, Blueprint 3.

It will be released on Sept. 11, the date most Americans now associate with the terrorist attacks, via a partnership between Roc Nation and Warner Music Group, according to MTV.com. A label spokesperson was unavailable for comment at press time.

Jay recently departed longtime label Def Jam after a 11-year relationship to pursue his work with Roc Nation, his imprint under touring conglomerate Live Nation.
Kanye West reportedly handled production on Blueprint 3, and buzzed-about tracks like "Brooklyn Go Hard," "Jockin' Jay-Z," and "Swagger Like Us" are expected to appear on the record.

R.I.P "GRASS HOPPER"

I grew up watching Kung Fu and David Carradine, and this is definitely another said day to lose another great talent from the past, but David may your spirit live on through eternity, and you will always be remembered...

Via Yahoo.com:

BANGKOK - Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.

It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.

The newspaper said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The name of the movie was not immediately available.

It said a preliminary police investigation found that he had hanged himself with a cord used with the room's curtains. It cited police as saying he had been dead at least 12 hours and there was no sign that he had been assaulted.

A police officer at Bangkok's Lumpini precinct station would not confirm the identity of the dead man, but said the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park hotel had reported that a male guest killed himself there.

Carradine was a leading member of a venerable Hollywood acting family that included his father, character actor John Carradine, and brother Keith.

In all, he appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby. One of his prominent early film roles was as singer Woody Guthrie in Ashby's 1976 biopic "Bound for Glory."

But he was best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin priest traveling the 1800s American frontier West in the TV series "Kung Fu," which aired in 1972-75.

He reprised the role in a mid-1980s TV movie and played Caine's grandson in the 1990s syndicated series "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues."

He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino's two-part saga "Kill Bill."

The character, the worldly father figure of a pack of crack assassins, was a shadowy presence in 2003's "Kill Bill - Vol. 1." In that film, one of Bill's former assassins (Uma Thurman) begins a vengeful rampage against her old associates.

In "Kill Bill - Vol. 2," released in 2004, Thurman's character comes face to face again with Bill himself. The role brought Carradine a Golden Globe nomination as best supporting actor.

Bill was a complete contrast to his TV character Kwai Chang Caine, the soft-spoken refugee from a Shaolin monastery, serenely spreading wisdom and battling bad guys in the Old West. He left after three seasons, saying the show had started to repeat itself.

After "Kung Fu," Carradine starred in the 1975 cult flick "Death Race 2000." He starred with Liv Ullmann in Bergman's "The Serpent's Egg" in 1977 and with his brothers in the 1980 Western "The Long Riders."

But after the early 1980s, he spent two decades doing mostly low-budget films. Tarantino's films changed that.

"All I've ever needed since I more or less retired from studio films a couple of decades ago ... is just to be in one," Carradine told The Associated Press in 2004.

"There isn't anything that Anthony Hopkins or Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery or any of those old guys are doing that I couldn't do," he said. "All that was ever required was somebody with Quentin's courage to take and put me in the spotlight."
